BRICK REPAIR

Tuck Pointing and Repairing of Loose Bricks

When the mortar between the brickwork (or mortar joints) begins to crumble and deteriorate, it allows moisture into the walls of your home. As the mortar continues to deteriorate, the bricks begin to shift and sometimes fall out.

Brick and masonry is very often left without maintenance for far to many years. Home and business owners see the deterioration as it occurs without understanding that maintenance is essential and if left to deteriorate is very costly once the damage is excessive.

The pictures below show where someone had used a sealant or caulking to repair the joints and was very sloppy, I cleaned out the old caulking and repaired these areas with a  mortar that I tinted to match the existing mortar.

Due to settling this brick worked itself loose and left a crack in the mortar from the window to the ground, the old brick was removed and a new brick was put in it's place

The mortar is a little messy but the key to a great looking job is to wash off the excess mortar, some inexperienced tuck pointers don't do this and the result is, that if allowed to dry, you end up with a mucked up job and the only way to fix it is to remove and replace the bricks, good luck finding bricks that match.
